PCYC NSW is thrilled to announce the appointment of Michael Silman as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 7, marking an exciting new chapter for the youth charity.
Michael joins PCYC following a 23-year tenure at Macquarie Group, where he most recently served as Executive Director and Global Head of Corporate Real Estate.
A highlight of Michael’s career is his leadership on the Metro Martin Place Integrated Station project, which received multiple awards, including the Government Partnership Award for Excellence and Development of the Year at the Urban Taskforce Australia 2025 Development Excellence Awards.
“Working on the design and construction of Martin Place train station and two office towers in consultation with the City of Sydney community was very special,” said Michael.
“It is now my privilege and honour to have the opportunity to lead PCYC NSW, I have been supporting PCYC for several years and I love the organisation. I look forward to working with the leaders of the communities we operate in to grow the impact of the organisation.
With a strong multi decade volunteering background in surf lifesaving, at food charity One Meal, and as the incoming President Elect with the Rotary Club of Sydney, the incoming CEO also brings a strong commitment to community service and is well positioned to enhance PCYC’s mission.
We get young people active in life. We work with young people to develop their skills, character and leadership. We reduce and prevent crime by and against young people in partnership with NSW Police.
“Youth are facing increasing social challenges such as social isolation, poor mental health and income inequality. I am eager to play a role in helping ensure young people across New South Wales have access to equal opportunities through the life-changing work of PCYC.”
Chair of PCYC NSW Nicole Sorbara said, “Michael has a reputation of leading high-performing teams and delivering transformative business outcomes. The Board is confident he will build on the strong foundations and 89-year legacy of PCYC NSW, enhancing our properties and partnerships to better support young people and communities across the State.”
“We would also like to thank outgoing CEO Ben Hobby for his leadership and contribution. Ben has played a critical role in strengthening social impact, sustainability, and long-term growth, and we wish him every success for the future.”
