Majok’s Story: From uncertainty to stability through Stepping Up

PCYC youth programs are an ecosystem designed to support young people at every stage of their journey. Participants like 18-year-old Majok Lual found stable employment and financial security through Stepping Up, securing a role in the construction industry after years of uncertainty moving between casual jobs.

“I wouldn’t be here today without my involvement in employability programs. PCYC put me on the right path, I’m now working towards becoming a Construction Manager.”

Stepping Up is a 12-month program supporting young people aged 16 to 21 in transitioning from school to long-term meaningful employment by offering intensive skill development, employer engagement, and personalised mentoring.

Before Stepping Up, Majok was juggling casual jobs with little security or direction.

“There are a lot of young people from different backgrounds that are willing to change, work, they just need to be given the opportunity. The program has taught me to be persistent with my goals and has given me more confidence in the workplace.”
