PCYC volunteers provide vital support through activities, events and programs in clubs across the State. As a youth charity, the life-changing impact of PCYC NSW would not be possible without the generosity of its more than 650 volunteers.
Some get involved with the PCYC community for a few hours, while others commit decades of service. Errol Whiteley has dedicated more than 50 years of his life to the organisation, most recently at PCYC Hawkesbury.
“I feel the best version of myself when I’m helping to make a difference in young people’s lives, whilst giving positive change back to an organisation that helped me as a 10-year-old at-risk youth. The joy I feel by being part of an excellent team is hard to put into words, I think everyone should participate and feel inspired about helping build a safer, stronger future for the next generation,” said Errol.
“PCYC is an organisation that is investing in the future of my community through its commitment to young people. It provides opportunities, guidance, discipline and positive role models without judgement or prejudice, that can genuinely change lives.”
For Errol, it’s the PCYC community that has kept him involved all these years.
“Police, families, volunteers young or old, businesses and the wider community come together to help create safer neighbourhoods, stronger families and better opportunities for the next generation,”
“Every young person who is encouraged, supported and given a positive direction represents a potential success story for society. I believe the benefits extend well beyond an individual, flowing into their families, workplaces and the entire community as a whole,” said Errol.
“Volunteering my time supporting PCYC is not simply me supporting an organisation. It is investing in a stronger, safer and more connected future for everyone.”
