18-year-old Avehry Pesamino fell in love with cooking when she started helping to cater for events at her church, sparking a passion for hospitality and a dream to become a qualified chef.
It’s a line of work Avehry never thought possible, until she was referred to the PCYC Stepping Up program.
“I was shy and only talked when I was spoken to, Stepping Up helped me improve my confidence and gave me the interview skills to secure work experience at Club Liverpool, which turned into a chef apprenticeship. I am now excited for my future after years of feeling lost.” Said Avehry.
“PCYC staff give you the help and support you didn’t know you needed. It will always be a part of how I improved in my life.”
