Meet Greg Churchill: Shaping Tomorrow’s Professionals

Greg Churchill has dedicated more than 10 years to working on PCYC employability programs, helping young people in Western Sydney find meaningful employment.

“When participants first come to see me, they often don’t have much of an idea of what they want to do, where they want to go. We identify their skills and passions before matching them with a career pathway, it is so rewarding to witness how excited they get when there is a positive outcome at the end of the program,” said Greg.

“It means they can go out there; they fuel valued in the workplace; they can bring in a wage and support their family. It makes me so proud to see young people build their confidence in the workplace and achieve things that years ago they could only dream of.”

Greg has developed strong relationships with businesses and organisations which come on board to employ suitable PCYC young people who pass the recruitment process. Hospitality, construction, social care, cybersecurity and the Australian Defence Force are among the sectors program participants have found work in.

“Many participants come from large families, or families where English is their second language, so being able to help with employer contacts and act as a mentor for these young people makes a huge difference,” said Greg.

“I have employers call me up and say, ‘If you can give me another 5 people like that young person you’ve sent me, I’ll put them on to work every day’, they are outstanding these young people.”
