Police and Aboriginal teens tackle a big job as part of NSW Police’s RISEUP strategy

Aboriginal teens across the state are entering the workforce for the first time thanks to a groundbreaking program by NSW Police aiming to teach them job-ready skills.

As part of NSW Commissioner Mick Fuller’s RISEUP strategy, officers have joined forces with PCYC to help 413 young people gain employment, 83 of whom are Indigenous.

And those numbers have withstood the test of time through innovative programs aiming to give Aboriginal kids confidence and a connection to their culture. Of those 413 young people, 341 have retained their employment since RISEUP began in 2018.
