PCYC NSW Spin Cycle Challenge changing young lives one kilometre at a time

Taking your average spin class to the next level, for an important cause.

Youth Charity, PCYC NSW is calling on corporate and community groups, families, and friends to form a team and take part in the Spin Cycle Challenge on Friday, October 24 – raising vital funds for life-changing PCYC youth program, Fit for Life.

It’s a six-hour cycle on stationary spin bikes at ILUMINA in Sydney’s Macquarie Group Building, riders will be motivated by professional spin instructors, live entertainment and prizes up for grabs.

The goal is to have fun and fundraise!  The challenge? There must always be someone on the bike, but there’s no limit to how many members can be on your Spin Cycle team.

This is the perfect opportunity for team bonding and a great way to test your endurance. You don’t need to be a pro, anyone can join in on the fun. The energy will be electric, and we’re sure to see some fierce (but friendly) competition all in support of a great cause.

PCYC NSW CEO, Ben Hobby said, “Fit for Life offers structured morning exercise and mentorship for young people aged 10 to 16 years old – the program is unique in the way it works to reduce and prevent antisocial behaviour through PCYC’s partnership with NSW Police.”

“Demand for the program is on the rise with more than 28,000 attendances at PCYC Clubs across New South Wales in the year to date – your support could be the difference between a young person stepping up or sitting out.” Said Ben.

A $500 donation funds one session for a group of 20 young people, while $250 will sponsor one young person through a whole term of Fit for Life, fostering positive lifestyle habits, and providing a safe space where they can reach their full potential.

Participant, Jayden Hughes has seen a transformation in himself since he joined PCYC.

“I was not at school much, and always running a muck a bit, but since I started coming to Fit for Life and meeting all the staff, they’re good people so they changed me around a bit.”

‘It’s the best thing that’s ever happened.”

Westpac, Wilson Security, Baiada, Endeavour Energy, EHP Labs, NRMA, Motio, and GroupGSA are among the corporate teams participating.

GroupGSA Director, Nancy Piazzolla said, “We’re passionate about supporting initiatives that empower young people and strengthen communities. The Spin Cycle is a great way to contribute to PCYC’s work while encouraging our own team to come together for a positive cause.”

“GroupGSA was drawn to PCYC NSW because of its long-standing, grassroots impact. For generations, it has created opportunities for young people to thrive through sport, education, and mentorship.” Said Nancy.
