The boxing story at PCYC

Are you looking for an activity that is perfect for everyone? Boxing is an amazing activity for any fitness level, and a great sport to get into as a beginner.

PCYC Clubs are known for their reputation. PCYC NSW is held in high esteem and is known as the largest youth organisation that works hand in hand with both the community and Police to help young people reach their potential.

Established in 1937 by then Police Commissioner William John MacKay, PCYC was designed as a partnership between the Police, Rotary and the community, its goal was to give children and young people a safe and positive alternative. Today the PCYC is one of Australia’s leading youth-focused organisations operating in 64 sport and recreation locations across New South Wales.

What does PCYC NSW do?

Work with young people to develop their character, skills and leadership.
Get young people more active in life.
Reduce and prevent crime by and against young people.
 

Boxing training was one of the first sports developed at PCYC in 1937, since then boxing training is still going strong with some State and Olympic champions getting their start at PCYC NSW. All boxing classes are designed for all fitness levels and ages.

PCYC Boxing Classes for everyone

PCYC boxing training classes are designed for amateur and junior athletes with these classes offering development in confidence, self-discipline and physical fitness, as well as strength, fitness and conditioning.

Located in Umina Beach is the home gym for the PCYC NSW Boxing Academy – a team of elite junior and senior male and female boxers, who are selected to represent PCYC. Many junior and senior males have trained under this program. All have been coached by their home coaches and by Director of Boxing for PCYC NSW Joel Keegan.

The PCYC Boxing Academy

The PCYC Boxing Academy travels regularly to tournaments interstate, intrastate and overseas to develop team members – this has included trips to both England and China.

Of course, boxing isn’t always competitive, boxing for fitness is very popular at PCYC and it’s a fun way to get fit. Boxing for fitness classes cater for all ages and fitness levels. For young boys and girls to teens, boxing for fitness is a great way to get fit, have fun and meet other students your own age. So get active and try a PCUC boxing class.
