The South Coast community now has access to new sports competitions thanks to the $1M development of two synthetic multi-sport courts at PCYC Shoalhaven.

Funded by the NSW Office of Sport, the all-weather courts offer a range of year-round sports, including futsal, tennis, pickleball, basketball and netball.

PCYC NSW CEO Ben Hobby said, “It’s a gamechanger and there is no other facility like it from Berry to Ulladulla. PCYC is committed to getting people active in life, and we are so excited to launch sport competitions for juniors and seniors in an inclusive and family-friendly environment. It’s a new era for sport on the South Coast.”

The courts will also be available to PCYC members for casual bookings, equivalent to two full length basketball and netball courts, one full size futsal court, and six mini tennis courts.

Minister for Sport, Steve Kamper, said the NSW Government is committed to improving the standard of sporting infrastructure so that it meets the needs of communities.

“Multi-sport courts cater for a wider range of participants, creating spaces that promote healthy and active lifestyles no matter your sporting code.”

PCYC Shoalhaven Club Manager, Javid Sadrnia said “These new multi-sport courts will play a key role in keeping our community active, healthy and connected through sporting activities and social competitions. Our youth programs will benefit significantly, with Fit for Life participants excited to take to the courts and get active before school.”

PCYC member Danica Matsen said, “It’s great to see young people shooting hoops before or after school, and people coming together for a fun pickup game. The courts are already being put to great use.”

The development follows a $951,000 interior upgrade to PCYC Shoalhaven, funded by the NSW Government Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund. It includes a new gymnastics space and a mezzanine for youth programs and activities.
