Indigenous All-Stars

WHATÂ ISÂ INDIGENOUS ALL-STARS?
PCYC NSW Indigenous All-Stars is an inaugural Australian-first sporting pathways program for First Nations basketball players aged 14 to 16.
A team of talented young people were scouted through the Nations of Origin tournament, and selected to participate in Indigenous All-Stars and tour the United States of America in April 2026, competing in high calibre junior varsity competitions.
The 10 players selected are representing four First Nations from six PCYC locations across New South Wales: Lake Macquarie (Awabakal), Taree (Biripi), Hawkesbury (Dharug), Bathurst (Wiradjuri), Wellington (Wiradjuri), Wagga Wagga (Wiradjuri Mawang Gaway).
PROGRAM INFO
Indigenous All-Stars is designed to be a life-changing and developmental experience for All-Stars players. It provides exposure to international basketball opportunities while fostering leadership, teamwork, and personal growth. This is an experience of a lifetime which will:
* Develop basketball and leadership skills through exposure to high-level coaching, elite training sessions at basketball academies, and immersion in diverse playing styles and techniques.
* Provide interaction with positive role models, including national and international players and coaches. Participants will attend NBA games with opportunities to meet and greet players, including legendary Patty Mills—Olympian, advocate, and Australian First Nations superstar.
* Grow character by encouraging personal development through new experiences, targeted workshops, community service, and forging new friendships.
As part of their involvement in the Nations of Origin program, Indigenous All-Stars players have met key qualifying criteria of a school attendance above 80%, connection with their local Elders, no adverse Police dealings, and have engaged actively with their local PCYC, including volunteering.
The U.S itinerary consists of basketball training, strength and conditioning coaching, tournament games at Junior Varsity level, attending College and NBA games, meeting College and professional athletes, providing community service, and one-on-one mentorship sessions.
Indigenous All-Stars is made possible through funding from the NSW Government and Hoops Capital.
