Blue Star

WHAT IS BLUE STAR?
The Bluestar Leadership Program is designed for young people aged 16-18, focusing on developing leadership skills through practical experiences. The program progresses through three levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold – each involving camps, volunteer work, and the achievement of Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Participants gain valuable skills and opportunities, empowering them to become positive leaders in their communities.
PROGRAM INFO
PCYC’s Blue Star Leadership Programs are designed to foster development and leadership skills in young people aged 16 -18. The program offers practical, real-world experiences that empower participants to apply leadership principles to work, family, and community settings, ultimately helping them become effective leaders within their local environments.
Central to the Bue Star Leadership Programs are core values of fun, friendship, respect, citizenship, commitment, resilience, and integrity. These values guide the program’s structure, which is divided into three progressive stages: Bronze, Silver, and Gold Levels.
The Bue Star Bronze marks the beginning of a young person’s leadership journey, requiring attendance at three camps during school holidays and completion of 40 hours of volunteer work at their local PCYC. Participants also earn First Aid & CPR Certification and work toward the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.
At the Silver Level, participants continue their journey by attending three additional camps, volunteering at their local PCYC clubs, and collaborating with club managers to develop and deliver a Bue Star project at their local PCYC. Participants also work toward achieving the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award and present their project at the final camp.
The Gold Level represents the final stage, where participants act as mentors for Bronze and Silver groups. Gold participants engage in personalised leadership activities and complete the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
Through these stages, participants will engage in workshops and experiences that enhance their leadership abilities and build confidence, equipping them to become influential and positive leaders in their communities.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
The PCYC Blue Star Leadership Program is open to young people aged 16 -18 who are committed to developing their leadership skills and making a positive impact in their community. Participants must be willing to attend camps, volunteer within their local club, and work towards earning the Duke of Edinburgh Awards at various levels (Bronze, Silver, and Gold). The program is open to young people who are motivated to engage in personal growth, leadership development, and community service. Specific requirements may vary depending on the level of the program, with each stage building upon the previous one.
