Volunteer With Us
Nations of Origin is a multi-faceted sport, cultural, education and leadership youth program held annually, this year July 2026. The program has four main components: Reconciliation, Education, Cultural Identity and Sport.
Each year over 1,000 Indigenous & Non-Indigenous young people represent their Aboriginal Nation in Rugby League, Basketball, Netball and Gymnastics to promote reconciliation within communities and celebrate Australia’s diverse Indigenous culture.
your impact
Your contribution as an event volunteer for Nations of Origin is invaluable. You’ll be creating a safe, fun and enriching environment for young people to develop their skills, build character and experience pride in representing their Nation.
What can you expect?
- A vibrant atmosphere celebrating cultural diversity and teamwork.
- Hands-on experience supporting event operations, from team coordination to assisting with sports activities.
- Connection and impact as you meet amazing people, support youth engagement, and help promote inclusion

Game day event opportunities
Car Park Attendants
- Supervise where buses and cars park throughout the event
- Control/monitor access to VIP and disabled parking area
- Monitor vehicle movements in drop off area
Set-up of Rugby League Fields
- Monday 13 July at Whalan Reserve
- Set up playing fields, marquees, tents, flags,
- General help
Basketball scorers
- Score 3×3 basketball games
- Some familiarity with basketball is helpful but not essential as training is provided
Duty Officers
- Ensure that all participants and spectators are behaving in an appropriate manner.
- Remind all spectators and participants to keep their areas clean and clear.
- Usher participants and spectators towards area’s of play
Player ID checks
- Check player ID accreditation prior to game commencing
- Returning ID tags post match
- Escalate any issues to field supervisor
Other roles
- Uniform sales
- BBQ stall
- Role relief – cover a role when the holder goes on break
