Basketball is very popular as a casual way to exercise as part of a competitive team sport.

It is a fast-action game with lots of running and jumping, and provides a good physical workout. You can go out and shoot baskets by yourself or get involved in competition games. PCYC runs basketball competitions in accordance with the rules and regulations of Basketball NSW.

PCYC NSW vision is for a community where all young people can achieve their potential in a safe and supportive environment. PCYC enables young people to develop and achieve their potential through active participation in a range of programs and activities across more than 60 clubs in NSW.

As one of its key initiatives, PCYC Glebe partnered with the Basketball NSW to create the exclusive team name PCYC Glebe Spirit.

PCYC Glebe Spirit is a community-run organisation that conducts basketball competitions for local children and young adults aged from 10 to 17 years of age.

In 2014, we achieved:

Metro Leaque

  • 7 teams made the play offs for their division
  • 4 teams made the Grand Final
  • 2 teams won their Grand Final.
  • Our U18W team won the annual Sportsmanship Award for the Junior Metro League

In 2015,

  •  our U12W winning the Div 2 Coastal Classic pre-season tournament on the Central Coast
  • After going through the pool games undefeated (playing Hills Hornets, Maitland and Norths), our 12W cruised through their semi-final against Manly (who had beaten Gosford, Hornsby and Coffs Harbour)  winning 52-2 and then comprehensively outplayed the Maitland Mustangs to win the Grand Final 52-33.
