WHAT IS FIT FOR WORK?

The Fit for Work program focuses to support young people by creating pathways to employment, in collaboration with NSW Police and industry leaders. The Fit for Work program provides a 10-week intensive training course that equips participants with essential employability and life skills, including career planning, digital technology use, and certifications such as First Aid and White Card. By offering a supportive and collaborative approach, Fit for Work aims to enhance employability, foster community engagement, and help young people secure meaningful employment or further education opportunities.

The Fit for Work focuses on early intervention to support and empower young people, fostering collaboration between NSW Police and industry leaders to achieve positive employment outcomes. The initiative aligns with government policies aimed at ensuring young people are engaged in education, training, or employment, with a particular emphasis on creating pathways to meaningful work. Fit for Work provides participants with the opportunity to gain employment or enhance their employment capabilities, fostering a strong sense of achievement, pride, and community contribution.

Fit for Work is an intensive 10-week employability and life skills training program, which includes training in essential workplace skills such as career planning, digital technology use, and work-related learning. Participants also receive certifications in CPCWHS1001 (Work Safely in the Construction Industry) and HLTAID011 (Provide First Aid). The program places significant focus on life skills development, including physical wellbeing, resilience, emotional intelligence, communication, problem-solving, planning, and building positive relationships.

Research emphasises the importance of providing all young people with the necessary skills and connections for employment. By offering a supportive and collaborative approach, Fit for Work aims to increase employability, foster positive community engagement, and contribute to a more prosperous society by helping participants secure meaningful paid employment or pursue further education as part of their career pathway.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

To be eligible for the Fit for Work program, participants must typically be aged between 16 and 18. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in gaining employment or furthering their education and career development, with a commitment to fully engage in the 10-week training course. The program is especially suited for young people from disadvantaged or diverse backgrounds who may require additional support in developing essential employability skills. Participants must be available to attend all scheduled training sessions, actively participate in work placements, and engage in related activities. For individuals under the age of 18.
