A Chance Changed Courtney’s Life
Now She’s Creating Employment Opportunities for the Next Generation.
After adversity prevented Courtney Poole from completing her HSC and attending university, she found a place to belong at PCYC Taree. Starting as a volunteer, she worked her way up from Activities Officer to Youth Worker and is now the Programs Coordinator at PCYC NSW State Office in Sydney.
Today, she helps deliver the youth programs that once supported her, empowering young people to build confidence and realise their capability. “PCYC took a chance on me while I was still young, and it changed my life,” said Courtney.

When 19-year-old Natalina signed up for the Stepping Up youth employability program, she lacked direction and motivation: now she’s in a job she loves.

As a Programs Coordinator, Courtney says seeing participants gain confidence, discover their strengths and build independent futures is the most rewarding part of her job.
Avehry
For years, 18-year-old Avehry dreamed of becoming a chef. It was a line of work she never thought possible, until she was referred to PCYC.
