Spring into Spring

Winter is finally behind us and spring is the perfect season to re-adjust your mindset and form some new lifestyle habits. As the weather warms up and we start to feel more energised – you might find that you are feeling motivated to kick start some new healthy habits.

Here are a few directions worth considering for this “spring energy”:

 

Get crafty

Whilst it’s not an energetic activity – crafting can help balance and calm your mind. This, in turn, can give you additional energy to use in other areas of your life.

Whether it’s painting, sketching, papercutting or beading – all types of crafting can have a relaxing effect, and there are so many different options. There are also plenty of online resources with easy to follow guidelines for any kinds of crafts you can think of. Why not find a place outdoors where you can enjoy the spring weather whilst calming your mind with your new crafty hobby?


Set yourself new “no phone” goals

If you are an iPhone user, you may have noticed recently that you are getting notifications around your weekly “screentime”. These are a timely reminder that most of us spend too much time on our phones. With the weather warming up and the days getting longer, now is the perfect time to set yourself some realistic but healthier “screentime” goals. How about setting aside more time for face to face meetings this spring and work on reducing your time spent in messenger chat groups.


Family fun

Spring your family into action by enrolling your children is some activities that you can do with them, things like rock climbing and boxing are a fun way to stay fit as well as bond together as a family. Less physical but still fun are things like picnics in your nearest national park reserve – you could always go for a bit of a bushwalk before lunch to get everyone’s appetites worked up.


Take the plunge and join a fitness centre

It’s normal to feel a bit sluggish coming out of winter and getting back to your normal pre-winter fitness routine may not be that easy to achieve. There’s nothing quite like the motivation that you can receive from working out with other people. Whether it’s in a group fitness class or side by side on the treadmill. For many of us, this is what keeps us going in our routines and helps us stay focused on our fitness goals.
