Newcastle wins $30k from clubs

Young members at PCYC Newcastle will have a new multipurpose youth room, following a successful grant application.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants were handed out in Newcastle this morning as part of the ClubGRANTS category 1 funding program.

West Group Australia (Newcastle area) presented PCYC Newcastle representatives with a cheque for $30,624.

It was full funding for a youth hub development off the main entrance to the club which will transform the reception area and set up a dedicated space for young people.

The latest electronic devices, comfortable furniture, games and pastime equipment will be installed in the new room, which, while open to the front of the club, will include foldable doors to be able to close off the room for presentations, meetings and other activities.

Newcastle manager Jason Platt said the grant application proposed the work should start in September and be completed by November.
