More than 70 people have signed up Cowra Community Get Healthy Challenge which will feature Olympian Jana Pittman.
Jana will be at Cowra PCYC on Thursday, October 15 at 7.30pm to launch the challenge.
This is a free event that everybody can attend.
Fit Fix Personal Training and Group fitness, along with Jana Pittman, are running the six week community health and fitness challenge for Cowra commencing on October 26, 2015.
Bec Kurtz, who works with the Olympian, says the response has been great but hopes more people will sign up for the challenge.
“It’s not often an Olympic athlete training for Rio comes to places like Cowra,” Bec said.
During the six week challenge, participants will receive two weekly workouts, nutritional plans, conference calls from Jana and 24/7 support.
Bec says the idea came about after speaking to local personal trainer Nicole Fliedner.
Nicole says it’s not just about numbers on a scale, rather the six week challenge is a holistic approach to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
“It’s a whole mindset change, complete wellness,” Nicole said.
“The winner of the challenge will be judged on attitude, attendance, encouragement, the overall package.”
Nicole hopes that locals take advantage of this rare opportunity just in time for summer.
“Jana is a wealth of knowledge, you can’t lose,” she said.
“For a little town, this is a huge thing.”
