TOP-NOTCH: Deputy premier Troy Grant said Cessnock PCYC was the best he had seen, during a visit to the centre with Cessnock MP Clayton Barr on Friday.
Deputy premier Troy Grant visited Cessnock PCYC on Friday to see how the NSW Government’s $1.8 million upgrade has benefited the club.
The funds went towards the indoor skate park and rock climbing centre.
Mr Grant, who is also the police minister, was a detective at Cessnock Police Station in the mid-90s.
He said the new Cessnock PCYC, which opened in 2014, is the best he has seen.
“It is of enormous value to the community,” he said.
“Cessnock has always had a need for activities for young people.
“The investment is immeasurable.”
Mr Grant was joined by Cessnock MP Clayton Barr at the PCYC, and while they weren’t game enough to try out the half-pipe, the pair jumped into the boxing ring for a quick spar.
