Big cheque progresses Dee Why

The development of a major new PCYC for Sydney’s northern beaches took a step forward at Dee Why this morning.

PCYC NSW CEO Darren Black and member for Wakehurst and NSW Minister for Family and Community Services and Social Housing Brad Hazzard formally presented the financial contribution from the state government through PCYC to Warringah mayor Cr Michael Regan.

The council’s $25 million project will provide much-needed car parking to the growing Dee Why community as well as a state-of-the-art PCYC to service the local government area and beyond.

The building will include two multiuse indoor sports courts, a youth drop in centre and study area, three multipurpose community rooms, PCYC youth counselling space a cafe and parking for 348 cars.

A “cheque” for $250,000 was handed over to Cr Regan at a ceremony attended by PCYC and council staff, the media and members of the local area command.

PCYC Northern Beaches is expected to be completed about the end of the year.
